Ode to the Aral Sea – A small symphony and more

My new single is on the way and it will be on the market in a few days. The third single taken from the Album Crossing Border is “Ode to The Aral Sea” and there’s a lot to say about this record.
First of all, I have to say that very likely this will be the last single taken from the Album I’ve published last summer. This doesn’t necessarily means that there are no other tracks I like but I guess that the others are more or less complete in their original versions. There’s always room to improve them, mostly in terms of engineering and mastering but I don’t feel right now as to expand them and I have also some new material that I’m eager to publish soon.
Let’s start from the usual “Album Edit” version, that is basically the same version of the album with few changes, in this case marimbas and percussions are rewritten and there is the oboe to make the sound richer.
Much more interesting are the other two tracks.
Ode to the Aral Sea (A Little Symphony) is probably the right dimension for this song. I’ve always found the version I’ve included in the album too short. There is a lot of music that needed more space to be considered fully expressed. I feel like if in Crossing Borders I’ve put the lyophilized version of the song, while here, instead, you will have the chance to listen the real one. It is divided in three movements. The introduction, a bit emphatic, depicting, in my feeling, the immensity of the Aral Sea and its desolated status. In the second movement I’ve tried to evoke what the Aral Sea was. I’ve been in the village with the name I’ve borrowed, Muynak, and I felt pain seeing all those boats laying on a desert and the old fish factory turned into a sad museum. The sound of the Oud, a traditional instrument of central Asia, should replace the voice of the old men that lived by the Aral Sea when it still was a living sea full of fish.
Eventually, in the final movement, I’m back at the reality with same arrangement of the first movement but different tunes. The sad end is a just way to depict with few notes a dying fish as the water goes away.
The second track of the record has a completely different atmosphere but it is actually the original version of Ode to Aral Sea. This track was born as a techno tune called “A Russian Nightmare”. Only afterward I had the intuition of turning it into a classical piece and to be honest I’ve longly wondered whether to include in the album the Techno version or the Classical version. I think they sound so different now that they could be considered as two different tracks, that’s why I kept the original title.

A new single and plans for the future

After issuing a long version of “A Whale’s Escape” now is out on the market an even longer version of “Life in the ’70s”, one of my favourite track from the album Crossing Border.
After this I have in plan to publish a third single taken from the same album and it will likely be the last of this kind.
I’m quite happy with the result of my remix. The single features a very long version of “Life in the ’70s” that makes of it the longest track I’ve published so far. I can’t refrain to move my feet while listening to the music, I hope it will be the same for you.
Going on with the ‘restoration’ work of my early tracks, started with the remastered version of “Space Balkans”, this new single contains the remastered version of “A night ride”. I love that song but I feel like I wasn’t able yet to arrange it in a way to express all its potential, however I don’t have in plan to release one more version.
The third track of this new single is an orchestral version of “Life in ’70s”. I liked the idea of using pizzicato instead of funky guitar, this is the reason why I made this version.
Last track, described as “Album Edit” is only slightly different from the version of the Album but I think the sound is more round and smooth.
Meanwhile I’m working also in perspective for my future releases. Nothing is still confirmed but, as I mentioned above, there should be a new single from Crossing Borders with a small surprise and then I will start again to release brand new songs.
I have in the pipeline 4 new songs to be released in an EP or in two singles, then there is the second volume of Soundtracks and 4 brand new techno/dance tracks. And maybe, but not sure yet, a compilation for the Japanese market. And of course I’m putting down new ideas for my 2019 album.
